Welcome to the true feel of 'Old Taos' in the 100 year old 'Historic' private airconditioned compound of 'Blue Elk Casa'. In the owner's words she tells us why this home may be just the one you are searching for to enjoy your valuable vacation time:

'In our mini-hacienda you are one block from the down town central plaza with all the wonderful food, art, shopping and museums you could wish for. At the same time your home base is nestled in a totally contained private home that has been hand-painted and crafted with love and which just 'feels good' to be in. We also offer to those family or friends traveling or celebrating together the choice of staying close but of having separate complete spaces when the need or desire arises. The second story unit (Blue Elk Up) has its own private entrance, private open deck, kitchenette, large living room and full bathroom with tub/shower combo. Blue Elk Down has two master bedrooms one with tub/shower combo & the other with walk in shower only. Both units have large enough living rooms for the entire group to gather for meals and visiting. This unique Up and Down separation is ideal for members needing quiet get-away time and space from the hustle and bustle of group activity. Please note these units do not have an interior flight of stairs connecting one to the other. From the downstairs patio you walk up an exterior flight of stairs to the upper unit.

In the afternoon and evening you are footsteps away from some of the locals favorite restaurants and cafe's. At 'Blue Elk Casa' you will be staying in one of the most authentic historic Taos vacation rentals offered in Taos, New Mexico. Come and experience true Southwest charm and architecture with adobe walls, viga ceilings, kiva fireplaces, bancos and nichos! Most important - you are a two minute walk from Taos Plaza and able to enjoy total and absolute privacy from neighbors or passers-by in this serene adobe walled compound.

Wonderful, Private Getaway! We had a wonderful time at the Blue Elk Casa - Up & Down. My family (spouse and 3 kids) stayed in one unit and my sister and her husband used the other unit. It was a great space that allowed each family to have their own private time, but enough room to be together in either unit. The kids enjoyed having the extra futon mats so they could sleep separately when they wanted to. The lower unit has a lovely patio with a hot tub. The upper unit has it's own deck/patio. Everything was clean and well presented. Plenty of space. The location could not be beat. Just a short walk from the Plaza, you have access to shops, restaurants and beautiful scenery. We loved it. Would definitely stay there again. - R.H. TX

Lovely stay in the heart of Taos. We visited in July during Festival weekend to participate in a clinic for Roller Derby. There were 9 of us and the house accommodated our needs quite well. The separate upstairs/downstairs style set up allowed for a more quiet setting while allowing us to visit and eat together. The hot tub is great and comfortably sat 6 and we found everything we needed to be available. The house is within walking distance to some great shops and the plaza and we will come back! - R. Adler

We rented both the upstairs and downstairs units and found both apartments comfortable, well furnished, and clean. I would not hesitate to recommend the Blue Elk Casa (both floors) to anyone. - M. Currier

Sweet adobe Getaway near Taos Plaza. This place was a wonderful respite and very private despite the location. The garden patio and hot tub were well used, and the barbecue came in handy for a Saturday meal. The t.v. equipment was dated, but you are a loser if you are watching a lot of t.v. in Taos! ;-) Get a life and go up in the mountains or seek out some of the amazing historic "finds and art and fabulous Native American / New Mexican foods, or see Del Norte Rio Grande National Monument and the Gorge Bridge, or drive the "Enchanted Circle" or ride the Rio Grand River in a raft. Walk the Taos Plaza and explore the many and varied shops. We're coming back for sure. Blue Elk is the place to stay. - Brad, Lynette, Karen & Bill - Michigan

After years of going to the Midwest (from Alaska) for our annual reunion, we decided to try a new location. What a treasure we found! The Blue Elk Casa was charming and perfect for size of our group. The location could not have been better. It was easy for our diverse group to shop, dine, visit museums, or take a drive to near by attractions. Just relaxing at the Blue Elk Casa was like being home. - Rozzellflora, AK

"Charming home minutes from Taos Plaza" We spent six days and five nights at the Blue Elk Casa and absolutely loved it! The house itself is a lovely 105 year-old adobe with a beautiful courtyard area. There is a fully-equipped kitchen, cozy living space, four comfortable bedrooms, and three bathrooms. There is also a four-person hot tub that was very popular with our teenage children. The house is conveniently located just one block from Taos Plaza and is walking distance from shopping, restaurants, and historic landmarks. - We stayed in the Blue Elk Casa for a week while we skied and loved it. I would highly recommend it! You can't beet the location, one block off the plaza. Management went above and beyond their call of duty every chance they got and even rescued us from a night in a hotel when we locked ourselves out one evening. - J. Georgantes

Second time staying here--very well supplied--plenty paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing liquid, etc. Full size washer and drier--great for a family! Prompt attention--garbage disposal in upstairs unit was not working when we arrived; it was repaired the next business day. - K. Elkins

Three couples descended on your fascinating place. We can tell that the owner is very artistic and we spend time discussing all the art, maskes, etc. The location was perfect and the 100 year old architecture made us feel like natives. Thank you! - Karl, Mary, Kath, Mitch, Mary and Blair

Thank you so much for your hospitality in this beautiful home. The artistic tastes, so similar to ours, made us all feel right at homes. the hot tub was delicious and the powder sublime. Coming home after a hard day of Flamenco instruction or skiing was great in this wonderful home. And, our kids loved it too. Ole! - Tamara, Rhon, Ana & Nicholas, North Carolina

Thank you for your hospitality and use of this fabulous Taos home. 6 women celebrating our friend, sister, daughter's 50th birthday. We had lots of fun exploring, eating wonderful food, drinking margaritas and soaking in the hot tub. Yep, there was some shopping too. Favorite restaurants were Michale's kitchen for breakfasts, Dragonfly mor Mediteranian, OBL for food and dancing, and Orlando's for gourmet Mexican. - Marie, Amy, Lynn, Lola, Pat, Susie
